The Eurasian Union, the planned association of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan is the brainchild of Vladimir Putin who says it should promote economic cooperation and 'build on the best values of the Soviet Union.' But how attractive and viable is the Eurasian Union? What are the implication of the new Customs Union for the EU? How does it fit with Russia's membership of the WTO? And what are Russia's ambitions for the Union?
