“Ukraine, Russia, and the Future of Europe”

Lecture by Professor Timothy Snyder (Yale University)

Monday, April 13th at 3 p.m.

International Affairs Building Room #1201

Over 1.1 million people are internally displaced and over 6,000 have died
in the ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine. With violations to the Minsk II
agreement, the future of peace in Eastern Europe remains uncertain and the
post-WWII European order is now at risk. Yale historian Timothy Snyder will
speak on the ongoing conflict and its significance for the region, Europe,
and the world. Professor Snyder will discuss how what may appear to be a
regional crisis could soon shape more of the world.

Timothy Snyder is the Bird White Housum Professor of History at Yale
University and the author of several books including *Bloodlands: Europe
Between Hitler and Stalin* (2010) and *The Red Prince: The Secret Lives of
a Habsburg Archduke* (2008). His history of the Holocaust, *Black Earth*,
will be published this September by Crown Books.

This event is cosponsored by the Ukrainian Student Society of Columbia, the
New York City-based non-profit organization Razom and the Ukrainian Studies
Program at the Harriman Institute, Columbia University. Refreshments will
be served after the lecture. Free and open to the public.
